Flat keyboard

These assemblies are outwardly similar to the short-stroke keyboards. In contrast to these, however, they do not use short-travel keys but so-called metal snap domes. The low height of the buttons makes it possible to produce very flat designs.

With this technology, the lower switching element is a stable printed circuit board. Gold plated contact points are located at the button positions. The snap domes are positioned above them. When the bendable snap domes are actuated, they are pressed with the underside onto the respective contact point and the result is the triggering of a switching signal.

The upper end of the layered structure is also formed here by multi-coloured printed polyester films. With these, an individual, creative design of the user interface is possible.

With this technology, you have almost limitless design freedom. Due to their low overall height and their compact key grid, flat-key keypads are ideally suited for integration into devices and systems with small installation depths. These keyboards can also be used in applications with limited space.
