Storage chokes
Storage chokes are used to store energy in switched-mode power supplies.
Since the inductance decreases with the (DC) current load, the operating point of the current load is set at typ. 60..75% of the no-load inductance.
Iron powder cores are subject to the effect of 'thermal aging'. This means increased core losses if it has been exposed to a higher temperature for a longer period of time. The cores used by NKL have a low and defined aging syndrome.
