While care must be taken to use the lowest possible loss material for the transmission of energy, simple, inexpensive material can suffice for the transmission of signals. Usually, they consist of a ferrite core with one primary and one or more secondary windings. In the version with two secondary windings, two switching transistors can be controlled simultaneously with one pulse, e.g. in a bridge circuit.
