Longitudinal chokes
These chokes are used to attenuate mainly symmetrical (push-pull) interference. The interference arises in circuits in which currents are clocked. They usually only play a role in the lower frequency range up to approx. 1 MHz.
Usually, these chokes consist of a winding on an iron or metal powder core. However, different materials with different properties are also available.
Areas of application:
- Interference suppression of phase-angle circuits
- Interference suppression of TRIAC controller
- Interference suppression of thyristor controls
- Interference suppression of semiconductor relays, etc.
- Storage chokes for switching power supplies or voltage converters with clock frequencies below 50 kHz
- Current rise limitation (dl/dt chokes)
