Transformer

To the inquiry list

Current transformers are a special application of transformers. They are used for the galvanically isolated detection and measurement of alternating currents. They consist of a toroidal core on which a winding (secondary winding) with a relatively high number of turns is mounted. The conductor whose current is to be measured is inserted through the inner hole of the toroid and represents the primary winding. The current in the secondary winding generates a voltage at a defined load resistance ("burden"), which is evaluated metrologically.
