Current compensated chokes 2~/3~

To the inquiry list

Current-compensated chokes are used to attenuate asymmetrical (common-mode) interference. They are found, for example, in switching power supplies that generate high-frequency interference. These interferences must not be fed back into the mains.

Two or more windings are applied to a core and connected in such a way that the magnetic fluxes generated by the useful currents cancel each other out in the core and the inductance is only effective for the asymmetrical interference currents. Ferrite is usually used as the core material, which allows large inductances to be realized with relatively small dimensions.
