Compared to other keyboard technologies, silicone mats are particularly inexpensive to mass produce. They are durable and reliable and offer almost unlimited design possibilities. The colours and shapes of the keycaps are freely definable.

Silicone mats are made of highly elastic, toxin-free silicone rubber. The mats are created by moulding cross-linkable base materials at a defined temperature and pressure. A special tool is required for each model.

On the bottom side there is usually a conductive carbon pill per button. The lower contact part is usually formed by meandering conductor tracks on a foil or PCB basis.

Tools for silicone switch mats:
The tooling for the silicone keypads is made of a special alloy. It is manufactured with high-precision CNC milling and eroding machines. Several silicone mats can be optimally produced with one mould. In this way, the subsequent production optimisation is already taken into account during the mould creation.
